Graduation

Welcome to this amazing time of your life!  It’s a time when you’ll chart your course toward a future filled with impact. And, it’s a time when your parent(s) reflect on how well they prepared you for your journey ahead.

This is your time. Our future is in your hands. Will you use your many gifts, talents, and experiences to positively impact the world? Will you demonstrate admirable character with all whom you associate? Will you build strong relationships and direct your life toward serving others? Will you persevere through life’s most difficult trials? Will you give everything your best?

As far reaching as these questions are, the answers are completely within your control. Your life is what you make of it.

I say, “Go for it!”

For parents and caregivers, it’s a time when we look to our children’s future with hope while marveling at how quickly the time flew by. Watching our children face independent adulthood is easily one of our greatest milestones, and in many respects, this is the “acid test” of our parenting.  But, how do we know whether we covered all the bases and covered them well? What does successful preparation for adulthood look like? Shouldn’t we know? As parents, how do we know we earned a 4.0?

This is what my book, What I Wish I Knew at 18: Life Lessons for the Road Ahead, is all about. It shares practical life wisdom before the fact to inspire lives that are rich with impact. And, in the process, it reveals to parents the elements of successful preparation for adulthood.

Whether as a parent, teen, or young adult, may this book serve to encourage and inspire our greatest gift—our children.
